The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Arnaud Mortet - son of the iconic and late Denis Mortet - set up his own estate with his sister Clémence in 2016, taking over 4 fabulous hectares from his father's estate, including the finest finages in the Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin grands crus. A new beginning for Arnaud and Clémence, who continue to work in parallel at the head of the Denis Mortet estate.
The children have nothing to envy their father's talent, and the same success runs in their genes; so much so that from the moment they are born, these wines set the world on fire, and lovers of great Burgundies are snapping them up.
Wine Ideally situated between the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, Mazoyères-Chambertin is home to some of the finest pinots on the Côte de Nuits.
The 2020 red Mazoyères-Chambertin is a wine of great class, with aromas combining notes of undergrowth and ripe red berries. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 1-wine, 1/3 2-wine), this grand cru has structured, silky tannins. Haute-couture!
Vinification Hand harvested. Part of the harvest is vinified as whole grapes, with alcoholic fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. Very moderate pumping over and punching down. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, of which one-third are new, one-third one-wine barrels and one-third two-wine barrels.
