The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A model of Côte-Rôtie, the Domaine de Bonserine forges some of the very best wines of the appellation. A heritage of old vines, ultra-luxurious maturation in small tuns, perfect control of the ripeness of the grapes: rare are the Syrahs that combine power and finesse in such a nuanced expression. The old Syrah vines, locally known as "serine", are parts of what makes them such incredible wines, coupled with the House's high standards and the prestigious parcels that make up the estate.
Wine Selected from the best lots of the vintage, the 2020 Red Côte Rôtie La Sarrasine perfectly expresses the richness and complexity of these terroirs of schist and gneiss. Smoky notes of Havana and sweet spices engage a dense and fleshy palate, served by a long ageing of two years in small tuns which gives it both fatness and fullness. It is a very beautiful wine built for ageing, a wine of substance, which is very flattering and will easily keep for 15 years.
Vinification Hand harvested, aged in French oak demi-muid, of which 60% are new, for 24 months.
