The estate and the wine |

King of Spain and Manchuela, Juan Antonio Ponce challenges Rioja with wines that are astonishingly fresh and pure. Simply put, no one vinifies Bobal better than he does! Trained alongside Telmo Rodriguez, he took over his father's vines in 2004 and has since been producing wines that are clear, pure, and unadorned.
Noticed by Parker from his very first vintages, he brilliantly demonstrates that it is possible to produce top-quality wines in this region by practicing organic farming and rehabilitating indigenous grape varieties, relying on very old vines. |

The 2022 Red Manchuela Ponce continues to amaze us year after year. With 80% Bobal grapes from granite soils, this wine achieves a divine expression, vinified and aged in large wooden foudres that preserve its vibrant fruit and impeccable freshness. Deep, complex, and balanced, this intense red is both light and charming, unfolding with finesse around aromas of dark fruits and spices. A great vintage. Viva España! Rated 98/100 by Parker. |
