The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Clos du Calvaire is one of the most exciting new names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Praised by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World and member of the Selection Committee, this estate—born from the family division of Vignobles Mayard—has been making a rapid ascent, earning the attention of wine lovers and critics alike.

Now under the leadership of the Roumieux family, the estate is pushing quality to new heights. With a commitment to organic farming, biodiversity, and meticulous vineyard care, they have created a thriving ecosystem that reflects their ambition. Recognized with a 1-star rating in the French wine guide RVF, Clos du Calvaire is quickly becoming a must-know name in the appellation.
Wine With 70% Grenache and no oak influence, the 2023 Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape is another standout success. Bursting with juicy intensity, it showcases ripe black fruit aromas, layered with a distinct graphite note that adds depth. The structure strikes a perfect balance between richness and concentration, with silky, well-integrated tannins keeping it smooth and vibrant. A superb Châteauneuf! Rated 93/100 by Olivier Poussier.
Vinification Hand harvested in 18kg crates. Maceration for 20 to 25 days in concrete vats. Vinification using indigenous yeasts. Aged for 12 months in steel vats and large barrels.
