The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A cornerstone of Burgundy’s elite, Domaine Jean Grivot is a name of international renown. The estate boasts an exceptional collection of 12 Premier Crus and 3 Grand Crus, crafted under the guidance of Etienne Grivot and his children, Mathilde and Hubert. Their wines are defined by clarity, depth, and precision, hallmarks of thoughtful winemaking and meticulous vineyard work.

The estate's style embodies classic Burgundian elegance, with recent vintages gaining in concentration and textural richness. Barrel aging is handled with precision, using no more than one-third new oak to preserve freshness and purity.

Wine From a prized 1.87-hectare parcel extending from the renowned Combe d’Orveau, the 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Red is born from an exceptional terroir that many envy. This Pinot Noir exudes class and distinction, revealing aromas of wild red berries, morello cherry, cocoa powder, dried flowers, and a hint of bramble. The palate is refined and composed, with a remarkable sense of delicacy and an elegant tannic structure. Deep and characterful, it leaves a lasting impression with its balance and finesse. Rated 97/100 by the Selection Committee.
Vinification Hand-harvested, 100% destemmed. Cold pre-fermentation maceration in stainless-steel vats for around 6 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation using only indigenous yeasts, with daily pumping-over and temperature and density controls. Very little punching of the cap is carried out, the number depending on the context of the vintage. Vatting time averages 20 days. Malolactic fermentation and ageing in oak barrels, 30% of which are new and the rest aged for 1, 2 and 3 wines. Aged for 15 months, then racked to stainless steel tanks for 2 to 3 months. Wine neither fined nor filtered before bottling.
Vines aged 60 years and over on 1.87 ha.
