We’ve long expressed our deep admiration for this estate in Castillon. Thierry Valette is a true artisan, crafting wines of rare finesse and silkiness. His vineyard, rooted in asteriated limestone, rivals the finest terroirs of Saint-Émilion—no surprise, since at the end of the 19th century, Clos Puy Arnaud was actually classified as a Premier Cru of Saint-Émilion. This exceptional setting, combined with Valette’s thoughtful, biodynamic approach and masterful vinification, results in wines of outstanding character. With their polished structure, silky tannins, and unmistakable flair, they have few equals in the region. What’s more, Clos Puy Arnaud impresses without ostentation—not through sky-high prices or flashy facilities, but through authenticity and depth. Off the beaten track of classified Bordeaux estates, Thierry Valette produces wines full of vibrant fruit and natural energy that age gracefully.
