The estate and the wine |
|
|
Le Prieuré de Saint-Jean de Bébian is reclaiming its status as a Languedoc icon. With exceptional terroirs—a mosaic of soils, parcels, exposures, and microclimates—this emblematic estate has undergone a remarkable evolution since 2015.
A key player in the rise of great Languedoc reds, the estate has been instrumental in shaping the region’s classic style. Its success is rooted in exceptional vine stock, sourced from legendary names such as Syrah from Chave, Grenache from Rayas, and Mourvèdre from Tempier.
Under the stewardship of Benoît Pontenier, Bébian has embraced a new stylistic vision. The wines, crafted with patience and precision, are pure, fresh, and elegant. The reds, partially vinified with whole clusters and aged predominantly in large oak casks, stand out for their floral intensity, finesse, and delicate structure. |

Crafted from the estate’s oldest vines, the 2022 Red Languedoc is a beautifully expressive and delicate wine, dominated by Grenache vines over 80 years old. With a naturally light hue, it delivers an infused, refined profile with precise balance. Pure, delicate, and highly drinkable, this red promises an exceptional tasting experience. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee! |
