The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A winemaker of extraordinary talent and adored by the Parker Guide, René Rostaing is a master of Ampuis, working the finest terroirs of the appellation. His understated nature is matched only by his skill, creating wines of absolute classicism that captivate enthusiasts worldwide.

From the prestigious appellations of Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu to IGP wines, Rostaing’s creations are celebrated for their consistency and undeniable charm. With limited production unable to meet high demand, his wines are available exclusively through allocation.
Wine Blending fruit from various parcels across the estate, the 2022 Red Côte-Rôtie Ampodium offers a pure and authentic expression of the appellation. Whole-cluster fermentation and aging in barrels with minimal new oak result in a wine of remarkable elegance and freshness. Silky tannins and a refined, approachable palate balance concentration with delicacy, delivering flavors of black fruit, potpourri, and spices in perfect harmony.
Vinification Vines with an average age of 40 years on mainly micaschist soil, from 15 different localities other than ‘La Landonne’ and ‘Côte Blonde’.
Harvested by hand. Whole bunch vinification for 95% of the harvest, fermentation using indigenous yeasts, long vatting period of around 4 weeks. Aged for 20 months in 228-litre Burgundy barrels and 600-litre demi-muids, with very little new oak. Bottled on the estate after light fining and filtration.
