The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A newcomer to the Alsace vineyards, Julien Schaal embraces independence and originality. Alongside a winemaking venture in South Africa, the winemaker established his own label in 2011, with a bold approach focused on exclusively sourcing grapes from Grand Cru vineyards, showcasing the region's diverse terroirs with the utmost precision.

In blind tastings, his wines consistently come out on top, and the overall quality is simply astonishing. Proof that selection and sourcing are just as crucial as vinification, Julien Schaal excels on both fronts and captivates us with his craft. And when this rising star of Alsace offers such exceptional wines at angelic prices, resistance is futile!
Wine The 2023 White Alsace Grand Cru Rosacker Calcaires delivers a beautifully vibrant expression of minerality. The pure nose benefits from a bit of aeration, either in a decanter or a large glass, to fully reveal its chalky nuances and notes of white fruits. On the palate, it brings the characteristic tension of Riesling; a juicy, precise wine with refined acidity and exceptional delicacy. Born from the terroir of the famed Clos Sainte Hune, this wine has the potential to age gracefully for 15 years or more. A true gem to discover. Rated 95/100 by the Selection Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested. Gentle pressing of whole grapes. Natural fermentation for 3 months.
