Robert Parker Guide: 94/100

Wine:

Entirely vinified in oak barrels, the Grand Cru Rosé Champagne stands out for its full, generous character, with a large proportion of reserve wines (50%), including a touch of pinot noir from Coteaux Champenois. Aromas of morello cherries, red berries, pepper and curry, a delicate, refined palate and a swirling bubble with a magnificent percussive finish. A vinous yet subtle rosé, ideal at the table with duck or sweetbreads and which, in this magnum format, offers maximum complexity. Rated 95/100 by RVF and Bettane+Desseauve. In Magnum format, its aromatic expression is multiplied tenfold and its aging assured!

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vinification entirely in barrels. Bottled in 2017. Aged 60 months on lees. Blend from the 2016 harvest (50%), 2015 (30%), 20% reserve wines 2014 including 5% coteaux champenois.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2030 and beyond for enthusiasts

Egly-Ouriet, a paragon of Champagne excellence and awarded 3 stars by the RVF Guide, has carved out a name commensurate with its high standards. Spanning nearly 17 hectares, with ten classified as Grand Cru (in Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay), Francis Egly continues his remarkable work, which very few houses can match, now with the support of his son Charles and daughter Clémence. The balance and finesse of his wines are unmatched and represent an exceptional classicism.

From the very first cuvée in the range, one is captivated by this honest style, which balances strength and restraint while skillfully handling pinot noir. These are robust champagnes, underscored by very old vines, wines vinified in barrels and matured extensively in the cellar to refine and blossom at just the right moment. Purity, nobility, and definition are impressively regular features.
