Wine:

A blend of viura (85%), (the Catalan macabeu), grenache blanc, and malvasia, the 2021 white Rioja Horizonte from Exopto delivers an exuberant, floral bouquet that is extremely flattering. The fresh, well-balanced, and invigorating structure remains easily digestible, with no woodiness, and is stretched by delicate bitters. Ideal as an aperitif with seafood and marine dishes or spicy cuisine. Rated 91/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested in 15kg crates. Low-temperature fermentation. Aged in oak barrels, concrete eggs and 600-liter demi-muids.

Color:

Intense, bright golden yellow.

Nose:

Expressive and fragrant, with lovely floral aromas of white flowers and delicate notes of lily.

Palate:

Full-bodied and well-balanced, with a lovely freshness, this wine delivers a tonic palate with delicate bitters, pure ageing without any woodiness, and a long finish with a hint of saltiness.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Ideal as an aperitif, with seafood, grilled fish, sea bream ceviche or snacked scallops.
