Wine:

From the outstanding 2020 vintage, the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Marconnets Red offers a refined and concentrated expression. Notes of ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry are framed by subtle hints of cedar and spice, reflecting its time in oak without overpowering the wine’s natural character. Dense and full-bodied, this is a wine designed for the long haul, with the structure to age beautifully for more than 20 years. Allow it at least 5 years in the cellar to soften and develop, with its ideal drinking window starting in 2030 and extending through 2040 or beyond. Rated 94/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vines planted in 1979, 1983 and 1988. Long pre-fermentation cold maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with pumping over and punching down depending on the vintage. Malolactic fermentation and ageing for 14 and 16 months in French oak barrels, no more than 25% of which are new. No filtration before bottling.

Color:

Very dense, dark red with vermilion carmine highlights.

Nose:

Abundant aromas of dark berries complemented by luxurious notes of oak.

Palate:

Full-bodied and dense, this cuvée reveals ripe, intense flavors with remarkable concentration and structure. Its generous profile is built for long aging, with the depth and balance to evolve gracefully. Patience will be rewarded, as it promises to reach its peak after at least five years, making it a stunning addition to the table.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Seven o'clock lamb, butcher's cuts, game birds, coq au vin rouge, Burgundy cheeses.

Cellar aging:

Starting today, ideally from 2030 onwards, until 2040 and beyond for enthusiasts.
