The 2022 Volnay Red Premier Cru Clos des Chênes delivers fresh, focused aromas of cherry and wild raspberry. The palate is concentrated and silky, with smooth, finely polished tannins that give it balance and structure. This is a wine with the depth and poise expected from a Premier Cru, showing clear aging potential. Awarded 95/100 and a top distinction from the Selection Committee.Vinification:
Hand harvested. Plot of 65 ares 40, planted in 1939. 70% destemmed grapes and 30% whole grapes. Fermented for 18 days in temperature-controlled open stainless steel vats, with little punching down and a few pump-overs. Aged for 12 months in barrels, 10% to 20% of which are new, then 4 months in stainless steel vats. Production of 3,800 bottles and 166 magnums.Color:
