Wine:

Crafted from the estate’s finest vines, including a portion from the Greneriers climat, the 2023 Red Moulin-à-Vent is a remarkable achievement. Sourced from 60-year-old vines rooted in deep granite soils, with 80% whole-cluster fermentation, it strikes a delightful balance of density and vibrancy, wrapped in exceptional freshness. This dynamic Gamay reveals fine tannins and layered notes of raspberry, cherry, and violet. Both elegant and full-bodied, it’s a precise, fruit-forward wine with great ageing potential. Awarded 94–96/100 by our Selection Committee, this is a wine not to miss.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, low yields: 35hl/ha. Whole grapes vinified for 80% of the crop. Aged in vats only.
A wine from the estate's three flagship terroirs: Les Greneriers - La Teppe - Les Burdelines, on highly weathered granite soils, foothills and ancient alluvium.

Color:

Bright red with good intensity.

Nose:

Aromas of peony and cherry.

Palate:

Fresh and aromatic, this cuvée offers a wine that is both elegant and full-bodied, with a precise, fruit-driven profile.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

A symphony of artisanal charcuterie, terrines, sausages and pâtés de campagne, beef pot au feu, leg of lamb, mushroom entrecôte - a whole meal in a nutshell.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2030, and even longer for enthusiasts.

Nestled in the heart of Moulin-à-Vent, in the village of Romanèche-Thorins, Domaine Paul Janin et Fils has quietly established itself as one of the appellation’s standout producers. With two stars in the RVF Guide, Éric Janin brings precision and expertise to every cuvée, crafting wines that balance depth and vibrancy with remarkable finesse.

By vinifying each parcel separately, the estate showcases the unique character of its manganese-rich soils. The result is a collection of wines with beautifully defined aromas, supple intensity, and exceptional structure—true expressions of this celebrated terroir.
