Wine:

Sourced from three small parcels totaling 0.8 hectares, planted on granite sands and home to vines up to 90 years old, the 2023 Red Fleurie Les Garants is the estate’s flagship wine. This Gamay, vinified with whole clusters and without any oak influence, delivers a wine of remarkable depth—rich and elegant yet always fresh and lively. The nose is pure and vibrant, with aromas of warm cherry. On the palate, this same brightness continues, supported by natural acidity that enhances its crisp texture. Flavors of almond and red berries add complexity, giving the wine a beautifully refined and approachable character. A standout vintage, rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. 3 plots of old vines aged 15 to 90 years, for a total of 0.80 ha, in the Garants climat. Maceration for 12 days of whole grapes in 60 hl concrete vats, with daily pumping over. Vinification with indigenous yeasts, without added sulphites. Aged for 8 months in vats.

Identified by our Selection Committee before the press took notice and endorsed by Olivier Poussier, named Best Sommelier in the World, Grégoire Hoppenot is a rising star in Beaujolais.

We recognized his talent from his very first vintage in 2018, and it’s a pleasure to see him fulfill his potential, joining the ranks of Beaujolais greats like Lapierre, Desvignes, and Foillard.

Grégoire Hoppenot has spent years exploring the hills of Beaujolais, selecting the finest terroirs in Morgon and Fleurie to build his estate. His approach is clear: to bring out the best in each parcel, following a Burgundian interpretation of “climats”—small vineyard plots distinguished by their unique geological and natural characteristics.
