The Black Cask Barbados–Paraguay Anniversary Edition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Black Cask series. This special release is the result of a double-aging process that gives the rum its remarkable complexity, refinement, and subtle toasted character. After being distilled in both Barbados and Paraguay, the rums are first aged for several years in their respective countries in 200-liter ex-bourbon barrels. They are then brought to the southwest of France for a second maturation in small, heavily toasted oak casks, which lend a delicate smokiness to the final blend. The result is a beautifully crafted fusion of Barbadian and Paraguayan rums, marked by elegant aromas of stewed fruits and gentle sweet spices.

Elaboration:

Distilled in both Barbados and Paraguay, this rum begins its journey with several years of aging in ex-bourbon barrels in its country of origin. It then travels to the southwest of France, where it undergoes a second maturation in small, heavily toasted oak barrels. This double-aging process deepens the complexity and enhances the rum’s character, bringing out bold, smoky notes alongside a smooth, rounded texture.

Rhum Plantation Becomes Rhum Planteray—But the Craftsmanship Remains Unchanged

Under the direction of Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel, this singular House embraces a truly original approach—bringing together two distinct traditions and cultures to create a groundbreaking range of rums.

Whether blends or vintage releases, every expression benefits from a unique ageing process known as double ageing. Sourced from some of the finest distilleries in the Caribbean, these rums are first aged in tropical conditions before being shipped to the Charente region of France. There, they undergo a secondary maturation in Ferrand Cognac barrels, adding remarkable depth and complexity to the final spirit.
