Wine:

A model of mastery, the 2019 Red Ribera del Duero Tamiz delivers a concentrated texture with a lot of finesse. Relying on beautiful flavors of ripe black fruits, with smoky and spicy complex accents, this powerful and rich red wine is of extreme elegance. A very nice Ribera wine to decant or serve in large glasses that can be enjoyed now or over five years. Rated 92/100 by our Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Manual harvesting. 40 years old vines, chalky soil. Traditional vinification with temperature control for a short period and maturation in barrels for a minimum of 6 months.

Color:

Dark red, almost black, some carmine reflections.

Nose:

Complex with aromas of black fruits and berries mixed with smoky and spicy notes.

Palate:

Concentrated and adorned with fine tannins, this wine delivers a generous, powerful and elegant palate.

Temperature:

Decant or serve in a large glass between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Herb crusted lamb shoulder, grilled entrecote with Sichuan pepper, roasted guinea fowl, sautéed veal with chorizo, cheeses.

Teófilo Reyes is one of the most prominent figures in Spanish viticulture. And for good reason: a former cellar master at Vega Sicilia, the originator of another sacred estate of the Iberian scene, Tinto Pesquera, this talented winemaker has brought forth a whole new generation of talent, especially in the Ribera del Duero. For fifty years, he has raised the reputation of his region to the top of the wine game and has greatly contributed to the regions’ growth and recognition.

In 1994, he and his sons founded their own winery, the natural continuation of a lifetime of passion and dedication. In the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation, Bodegas Teófilo Reyes honors the Tempranillo grape variety to its fullest.
