Wine:
Vinified in amphora and beautifully executed by Elisabetta Foradori, the 2020 Red Vayots Dzor Karasi Areni delivers another success in this vintage. Its notes of blackberry jam, morello cherry, with a touch of cinnamon and spice, form a complex and refined nose. The palate is rich, with coated and powerful tannins. A great wine, as surprising as it is exhilarating, to pair with a boeuf bourguignon, a venison stew or a rib of beef, or an array of spicy dishes. Nestled in the Caucasus, the cradle of the world's wine industry, Armenia is steeped in a thousand years of history and traditions of winemaking. Zorah Wines is one of its most fervent ambassadors, cultivating the local black areni grape, a thick-skinned, resistant variety that can withstand very wide temperature ranges, at an altitude of over 1000 meters.
On the shores of Mount Ararat, on the Turkish border, in the village of Rind, this confidential vineyard produces a wine that is surprisingly similar to our great Syrahs. Vinified in amphora (karasi) by Elisabetta Foradori, a brilliant Italian winemaker, its reputation is soaring around the world.
