Wine:

The 2023 Red Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie is an exceptional Gamay, offering fresh, pure aromas complemented by subtle oak tones that will harmonize further with time. It reveals vibrant floral and fruit notes, including violet and raspberry syrup, with a silky, juicy texture. While it may lack the concentration of sunnier vintages, the fine-grained tannins bring an elegance that distinguishes this wine. Best enjoyed after another year in the cellar, it has the potential to age gracefully for at least 15 years. Rated 94–97/100 by the Selection Committee, this wine combines refinement and longevity.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vines on average 50 years old. Maceration, partly in whole grapes, for 13 to 15 days in vats. Gentle pressing with a pneumatic press. Aged for 10 months, 1/10ᵉ in new oak barrels and the rest in oak barrels aged 1 to 5 years.

Color:

A brilliant carmine ruby with great depth.

Nose:

Awarded 3 stars in the RVF Guide (Revue du Vin de France, a prestigious French wine guide), Château Thivin remains a benchmark of excellence in Beaujolais, consistently delivering wines of remarkable quality. Robert Parker has even ranked it among the 20 best value-for-money estates in the world. The wines are a masterclass in style, showcasing Gamay’s juicy aromas in an impeccably crafted framework.

The pinnacle of the Geoffray family’s work, the Zaccharie cuvée, is a proud emblem of both finesse and excellence—arguably one of the most complete and compelling Gamays available. This wine holds its own against some of the finest Burgundies, with each vintage offering a mesmerizing experience. As our Selection Committee notes, “Close your eyes, and you might easily mistake it for a Gevrey-Chambertin or Vosne-Romanée.”
