Wine:

The 2018 red Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Côte Madeleine skillfully harnesses its sunny vintage with precision and balance. The maturity is evident, with plump Merlots, notes of licorice, and balsamic. However, the richness and opulence of the year are well-contained by a disciplined style, resulting in a balanced, refined juice of moderate intensity, ready to drink today yet capable of aging for another 10 years.

Vinification:

Hand-picked from September 25 to October 6, 2017. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, maceration for 3 to 4 weeks. Aged for 12 to 14 months in barrels in an air-conditioned cellar (50% new wood & 50% one wine).

Color:

Deep garnet red.

Nose:

Typical Merlot aromas marked by balsamic and licorice notes.

Palate:

Rich and opulent, with full-bodied fruity notes, this semi-powerful cuvée delivers a racy, well-balanced structure federated by its sunny vintage.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Entrecôte Bordelaise, roast squab with shallots, leg of venison, Fourme de Montbrison.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2033.
