Delicate aromas of hawthorn, acacia and honeysuckle greet us in our glasses. The minerality of this 2021 white Chassagne-Montrachet mingles with the toasty notes of ageing. It evolves towards subtle notes of honey and ripe pear. Curvaceous, the attack is nicely lifted. On the palate, the fatness and mellowness are persistent. Born in 2017 from a unique human and cultural encounter, crystallized into a new kind of project, Domaine Kuheiji is today one of the most exciting gems of the Côte de Nuits. Its roots are in Japan: Mr. Kuno, owner of the Kuheiji sake brewery and a great lover of Burgundy, has united these two worlds where the importance of terroir and fermentation are at the heart of their expression.
A bridge between Japan and Burgundy, this exclusive 2.5-hectare estate in Morey-Saint-Denis, managed daily by Hirotaka Ito with organic farming practices, produces an impeccable range of wines from the finest crus - Chambolle-Musigny, Corton, Pommard, Morey-Saint-Denis, Nuits-Saint-Georges... - in the pure Burgundian tradition, nurtured by Japanese precision.
This fusion of Japanese vision and Burgundian expertise results in unique, distinctive wines that are already highly sought after, available only through allocation.
