Wine:

The 2020 Red Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru Ile des Vergelesses possesses the depth of flesh and foundation typical of great wines for laying down. Still very young, with ripe fruit and scents of blood orange and red berries, it releases an intensely graceful, pulpy body, with a tightly woven heart on the palate, destined for very long cellaring. Sculpted in depth by fine tannins, this dense wine will delight lovers of solid, voluminous reds. Rated 95/100 by RVF.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Whole-harvest, sulfite-free fermentation in concrete and wooden truncated-cone tanks for 15 days to 3 weeks. Aged on lees for 15 to 18 months in 228-liter oak barrels. Bottled on the estate.

Certified organic and biodynamic wine.

At the pinnacle of the Côte de Beaune, with 3 stars in the RVF Guide, Chandon de Briailles is a historic estate that wields the art of synthesis with rare talent, in the service of a frankness of taste and authenticity that never goes astray.

A long-standing advocate of whole harvesting, which gives the wines a certain firmness that time converts magnificently, the estate has not hesitated to convert its entire 14 hectares to biodynamic viticulture and to introduce horse-drawn work.

Confident in its subject, this estate reveals the highest expression of great Burgundy wines, capable of ageing for many years.
