Wine:

The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Red is a wine built for patience, having spent nearly two years aging in barrels. Sourced from a 1.28-hectare parcel in the clay-rich area of the Clos, known as Les 14 Journaux, it showcases remarkable power and refinement. The nose evolves beautifully with aeration, revealing notes of tobacco, licorice, and roasted coffee, followed by ripe yet fresh black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry, and blackcurrant. On the palate, it strikes a masterful balance between strength and nuance, maturity and freshness, with a refreshing hint of acidity. The finish is long and refined, with delicate, spiced tannins and an appealing savory edge. Exceptional aging potential.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vinification in open wooden vats, daily punching of the cap, malolactic fermentation.
Aged in oak barrels for 21 months.

Color:

Bright, intense red with a delicate purplish hue.

Nose:

Aromas of licorice and roasting, with hints of tobacco and dark berries on aeration.

Palate:

Precise and perfectly balanced, with beautifully ripe aromas, this cuvée delivers a refined profile with delicate, spiced tannins that enhance its elegance.

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Hare stew à la royale, venison noisette with pepper sauce, roast chicken with chanterelles.
