Wine:

The Red 2022 Guidalberto IGT Toscana, the second wine of Sassicaia, is crafted from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. As precise and inspiring as its famous predecessor, it unmistakably carries the DNA of Sassicaia, vying for the title of Italy’s best wine alongside the great icons. However, it offers a more immediate and approachable style, built on concentrated fruit from a warm vintage, with notes of ripe blackberries and a generous, smooth texture. Freshness and elegance are also key, delivering superb balance and a subtly spiced finish that adds a touch of flair. A fantastic introduction to the Sassicaia style! Rated 94/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. The grapes are sorted directly in the vineyard, then a second sorting is carried out in the cellar. Destemming and gentle pressing to avoid sudden pressure on the grapes. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 20 to 25 months.

Color:

Intense, brilliant garnet red.

Nose:

Delicate aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with a delicate spicy touch.

Palate:

A sumptuous, velvety texture is revealed on the palate, with delicate, ripe fruit and a lingering finish.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled rack of lamb with marinated peppers, roast duck breast with mushroom sauce, veal filet mignon with cranberries.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2032

A leading figure in the world of "Super Tuscans," Tenuta San Guido is best known for one of its iconic wines, Sassicaia, which has forever left its mark on the history of Italian wine. Alongside Ornellaia, Solaia, and Ca'Marcanda, it reigns at the top of the global wine hierarchy.

A passionate lover of Bordeaux, owner Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta achieved the unthinkable in the early 1970s: he proved to the world that he could rival the greatest Médocs. The first commercial vintage, 1968, launched a series of magnificent wines, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, breaking with the traditions of the time—and so, the legend was born!
