Wine:

The 2020 red IGT Toscana Solaia is one of Italy's finest wines, and a contender for the title of best wine in the world. It is made to the same exacting standards as the grands crus classés, with everything carefully thought out and orchestrated, from harvesting to ageing in new French oak. The result is worthy of the effort: of great aromatic complexity, driven by a radiant Cabernet Sauvignon, it explodes with notes of intense black fruit, spice and toastiness, framed by silky, beautifully sculpted tannins. Powerful, this vintage certainly plays its best card in terms of texture and creaminess. The quintessence of Tuscany, with inimitable originality, capable of dazzling connoisseurs and seducing neophytes with equal emotion. A real feat!

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. The grapes were carefully destemmed and sorted. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months in the estate's 16th-century underground cellars.

Color:

Deep ruby red.

Nose:

Intense and incredibly complex, the aromatic arc offers notes of blueberries, raspberries and crushed redcurrants mingled with a fresh minty touch and floral nuances.

Palate:

Rich and delicious, the silky palate opens slowly with delicate tannins and roasted, almost spicy flavors that combine elegance and refinement. The long, persistent finish defines this cuvée of incomparable precision.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Italian-style porchetta, Vitello Tonnato, pink duck breast and chanterelle mushrooms, creamy black truffle risotto...

Cellar aging:

From now until 2045

Solaia is the jewel in the crown of the Antinori family, one of the world's most reputable estates. This 10-hectare vineyard, located at an altitude of 400 meters, is set on a very specific limestone base. The first vintage, made in 1978, opened the way to "super Tuscans", like Sassicaia or Ornellaia, wines freed from their appellation, inspired by Bordeaux blends, able to compete in aroma, texture and depth with their French counterparts.
