Composed of rare, nearly extinct grape varieties (sciaccarellu, carcaghjolu neru, minustellu), the 2022 red Tarra di Sognu exhibits a superb richness of aromas and a distinctly Italian elegance! It is a unique wine, mature without being overripe, a perfect balance of finesse and depth tinged with mesmerizing Mediterranean flavors of dry herbs, bay leaf, and wild blackberry, and ultra-silky tannins. This is a very great wine, precise and complete even today. With enormous aging potential, it would pair splendidly with a seven-hour lamb or beef ribs.

Yves Canarelli is one of the most talented winemakers in Corsica, at the pinnacle of French viticulture, awarded 3 stars by the Green Guide of RVF. Since his first vintage in 1997, this unwavering perfectionist has continuously strived for improvement and the ideal path. Today, he cultivates over thirty hectares in the regions of Figari and Bonifacio using biodynamic practices, reviving around 40 indigenous grape varieties.

In 2010, he partnered with sommelier Patrick Fioramonti to embark on a new project named Tarra di Sognu. Originating from 5 hectares situated in the large limestone enclosure of Bonifacio, the wine produced since 2016 confirms the emergence of Corsica’s first grand cru, exhibiting a mineral tension unique to the island. Biodynamics, native yeasts, whole clusters, local grape varieties, and aging in large casks and demi-muids all converge towards excellence.
