Wine:
Crafted from one of the coolest neighborhoods in the appellation, the 2019 Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape has preserved a gentle extraction, delivering an essence of old Grenache. A measured wine, aged in concrete vats, that breaks with the over-extracted style of some of the estate’s neighbors. Thus, the wine offers a ripe palette of black fruits and spices, a concentrated yet graceful palate, with a good amplitude. Rated 96/100 RVF.Vinification:
Hand harvested. 100% whole bunches, light crushing, vinification from 17 to 25 days depending on the year and the grape variety (23 days for the Grenache and 20 days for the Syrah) with temperature control and daily pumping over. Aged after blending for 21 months in concrete tanks. No filtration or fining. Bottled on the estate. Conservation in bottles for 5 months in an air-conditioned cellar before marketing in November 2021. Certified organic wine.Color:

Virtuoso of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Charvin estate has been able to impose its vision and forge wines that are beautiful and faithful expressions of their terroir. Passionate and pragmatic, Laurent Charvin quickly took the path of organic viticulture, turning towards what is simplest, or in other words, the most natural, techniques. Using the whole harvest also gives the wines a remarkable silkiness, combined with highly complex aromas.
Considered an Olivier Poussier favorite, awarded 2 stars in the French RVF Green Guide and rightly acclaimed by wine lovers, Laurent Charvin is a reference of the winemaking world, imposing his refined style over the course of several vintages. Of course, his bottles are highly sought after and are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.
