Wine:

The 2020 red Rasteau La Ponce displays excellent craftsmanship, southern in its expression yet without the excesses often associated with the region. Aromas of menthol, eucalyptus, wild herbs, and tapenade intertwine with a rich tapestry of black fruits and spices. The structure is full and fleshy, concentrated with sturdy tannins that refocus the mid-palate, complemented by a fine overall delicacy. This magnificent wine is well-suited for aging and can be enjoyed over the next 15 to 20 years without any issue. A favorite of the Selection Committee, it has been rated 93/100.

Vinification:

Hand-picked with grapes sorted in the vineyard. De-stemming followed by fermentation in concrete vats. Each grape variety is vinified separately. Aged for 15 months in old barrels for the Syrah and in concrete vats for the Grenache.

Color:

Intense ruby red.

Nose:

Rich and elegant, with slightly jammy black fruit aromas underlined by a herbaceous touch of garrigue, black olive tapenade and spices.

Palate:

Full-bodied and rich, this magnificent blend reveals a delicate structure, subtly extracted juice, silky tannins and a long, gourmet persistence.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Cochon confit from Mont Ventoux and grilled eggplants, duck effiloché with spices, Larzac tomme, poached pears with spices.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2040
