Domaine Chante Cigale - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Blanc - 2022

Wine:

The 2022 white Châteauneuf-du-Pape beautifully showcases the area's winemaking. It blends together the five white grape varieties of the region – Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache, Picpoul, and Roussanne – in equal proportions. This blend creates a richly aromatic wine with hints of fennel, green anise, and white flowers, and it has a strong mineral taste with a clean, straightforward structure. It's an excellent example of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, ideal for pairing with fish or poultry dishes. Rated 92/100, it's a favorite of the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, double sorted (in the vineyard and in the cellar). Direct pressing, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats and concrete eggs. Aged for 6 months on fine lees, 85% in stainless steel vats and 15% in Burgundy barrels.

Color:

Bright golden yellow with luminous highlights.

Nose:

Fine, subtle herbal aromas, with notes of wild fennel and green anise, underlined by a touch of white flowers.

Palate:

This Châteauneuf du Pape cuvée has a clean, uncluttered structure, with magnificent minerality revealing pleasant freshness and persistent vivacity.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Citrus salmon fillet, stuffed chicken supremes with melting carrots, salt-crusted trout.
