Wine:

The 2021 red Côte Rôtie Ampodium, a blend from various parcels of the estate and the introductory step into this prestigious appellation, presents a true and authentic expression of the region. Crafted with whole grapes and aged in barrels with minimal new wood, this wine unfolds with both tension and freshness. It asserts its class with a deep and silky texture, making it a wine that is already very appealing and charming.

Vinification:

Vines around 40 years old on mainly micaschist soil, from 15 different lieux-dits other than "La Landonne" and "Côte Blonde".
Hand-harvested, 95% of the grapes are vinified in whole bunches, fermented with indigenous yeasts and left in vats for around 4 weeks.
Aged for 20 months in 228-liter Burgundy barrels and demi-muids, with a very modest proportion of new wood.
Bottled on the estate after light fining and filtration.

Color:

Bright, intense red.

Nose:

Aromas of black fruits and violets with hints of black olives.

Palate:

Silky-smooth and deep, with round fruit, this top-class cuvée develops a juice faithful to its terroir, with great freshness and velvety tannins.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Rib of Salers or Charolais beef, leg of lamb, Saint-Marcellin.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2030, and even longer for enthusiasts.
