St Antonin - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Rouge - 2020

Wine:

Pure Grenache, the 2020 Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape Saint-Antonin is made from 60-year-old vines on the sandy La Font-du-Loup and La Crau plots. These prestigious terroirs produce smooth, fresh wines with aromas of raspberry, rose and pepper. Medium-bodied, with good minerality, even texture and ripe fruit, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a sure bet for the appellation, especially in this rich, opulent vintage. This Saint-Antonin estate belongs to Isabelle Sabon, sister of the owner of La Janasse! Less well known, it nevertheless deserves a great deal of attention.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, sorted in the vineyard and cellar. Plots located in La Fond du Loup and La Crau Est, spread over 2 ha of sandy soil, vines averaging 60 years old. 80% de-stemming, 28-day maceration. Aged 12 months in tuns.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled and simmered meats, lamb shoulder confit with sweet spices, saddle of hare with thyme.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034.
