Wine:

With its finesse and fruit concentration, the 2021 red Côte-Rôtie is a superb bottle destined for long aging. The very pure nose, with notes of soot, black fruit and wild blackberry, is underlined by a rather luxurious woodiness that coats the wine well. The fleshy, powerful and concentrated structure expresses the crispness of granite in a particularly mineral profile, which remains extremely fresh, underlined by a woodiness that will slowly integrate. A magnificent wine to be enjoyed over the decade and beyond. The Committee's " Favorite " rated 96/100.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, 1/3 whole grapes, aged for 12 months in new barrels and one wine, then 10 months in tuns.

Color:

Dark, brilliant red with purplish highlights.

Nose:

Great purity, with notes of soot, black fruit and wild blackberry, all haloed by luxurious oak.

Palate:

Both full-bodied and powerful, this well-concentrated wine delivers a juice of great minerality, where granite can be crunched!

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Game, hare à la royale, salt-paste châteaubriand, Salers or Charolais prime rib, cheeses.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034, and even longer for enthusiasts.

Founded in the early 1990s by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, Tardieu-Laurent has become one of the premier micro-négociants in the Rhône Valley, a sought-after and envied address awarded 2 stars by the RVF Guide.

With their uncompromising and high-quality vision, Bastien and Michel Tardieu continue their quest today, meticulously scouring the vineyard to identify the best terroirs and select the finest grapes, typically from very old vines and often located in the historic heart of each appellation.

Their expertise in aging has built their reputation, revealing generous and precisely defined wines through the use of large barrels, whole-cluster fermentation, and especially measured aging processes.
