Wine:

Vinified in a more approachable style than a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape yet equally compelling, the 2022 Vin de France Red Liberty wine opens with aromas of ripe dark berries and subtle spices. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with bold, well-integrated tannins and a savory, balanced finish.Crafted from the appellation’s signature grape varieties, this wine offers depth and harmony, with the potential to age gracefully. A superb composition.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, these vines are located in the southernmost part of the Rhône, in Caumont-sur-Durance, at an altitude of 125 meters. The soils consist of red and blue clay topped with a layer of rolled pebbles.

Vinification takes place in underground concrete vats, with a maceration period exceeding four weeks and gentle extraction methods. The wine is then aged for 20 months in foudres and demi-muids, resulting in a complex, balanced expression of its terroir.

Temperature:

Decant before serving between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Lamb chop with rosemary, beef tartar, parmentier with duck confit and pepper.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2029.

A hidden gem of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, praised by Best Sommelier in the World Olivier Poussier, Domaine La Barroche is celebrated for both the exceptional quality of its wines and its understated reputation.

Julien and Laetitia Barrot manage old vines, some over a century old, in the finest areas of the appellation, particularly in the northern sector near Rayas. Their dedication to freshness results in remarkable cuvées, available exclusively through allocation.

With small production volumes, aging in concrete tanks and large wooden vessels, and its singular focus on quality, this estate has become a highly sought-after name among wine enthusiasts and collectors.
