Wine:
Born from one of the coolest terroirs in the Ribera, nearly 900 meters above sea level, the 2016 Red Ribera del Duero Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva is a concentrate of superlatives. Made from century-old vines planted on three small limestone plots swept by cool air where the temperature is always three degrees lower than in the valley, this wine offers a magical tension. Aged for more than four years in barrels, it develops great concentration and balance. A great wine to keep!Vinification:
Hand harvested. Very old vines planted at an altitude of 870-890 meters. Fermentation in concrete tanks by indigenous yeasts, 100% whole bunches crushed according to tradition. Natural malolactic fermentation and aging of 54 months in mainly French oak barrels in the underground cellars. No fining, no filtration before hand bottling. As these are very old Tempranillo vines, we also find other local varieties of red or white grapes such as Albillo, Bruñal, Garnacha, Bobal, Cariñera...
Certified organic wine.
