Wine:

Nearing perfection with 99/100 Parker, the 2020 Red Pingus Ribera del Duero is once again a wine out of the ordinary. Only 2 small plots of very old Tempranillo vines and a few endemic plants, planted in 1929, in the village of La Horra... This is the secret of Pingus, where only the best lots from this micro-terroir are selected to make the iconic wine. Drastic selection, ridiculous yields and now ageing in large 20 hl containers, followed by barrel ageing without new wood, add to the myth's legendary rarity. This 2020 is profoundly Mediterranean, more Pingus than ever, delivering great elegance and harmony. The intensity is prodigiously light, the power restrained, and everything points towards pure, unadulterated fruit.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Old vines of more than 80 years old with a very low yield (11hl/ha). Vinification according to a non-interventionist logic. Aged in 2000 liter oak barrels.

Vines driven according to the principles of biodynamic farming.
Certified organic wine.

Color:

Intense and brilliant red with purplish reflections.

Nose:

Delicate and aromatic with beautiful aromas of red and black fruits underlined by roasted accents.

Palate:

Elegant and refined, this wine reveals a delicate and silky texture with smooth tannins, a full-bodied and harmonious finish with a beautiful freshness. A wine of incredible finesse and subtlety.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Red meat grilled or simmered in sauce, small game, cheese platter.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034 and more for enthusiasts.

A brilliant oenologist, Peter Sisseck - nicknamed Pingus - has revolutionized the Spanish wine scene. In the heart of the Ribera del Duero region, he created Dominio de Pingus from scratch in the 1990s, seizing the potential of very old Tempranillo vines.

Organic and biodynamic viticulture, vines almost a hundred years old, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, luxurious aging in oak tuns, prized terroirs and endemic grape varieties... everything contributes to the uniqueness of this iconic wine, which has been elevated to the status of a cru in its own right.

Now one of the world's greatest wines, rated 100/100 by Parker on numerous occasions, Pingus has never ceased to act as a watchdog, dragging the whole Iberian Peninsula revival in its wake.
