Wine:

Rooted in the finest granite slopes of the appellation, the 2021 Saint-Joseph Le Passage Red is a quintessential expression of Syrah. Refined and elegant, it reveals delicate spiced notes, fresh and juicy flavours, and velvety tannins. Subtle oak adds depth without overpowering, while the finish lingers beautifully with a touch of violet. A standout Saint-Joseph, capturing the essence of this prized terroir, it’s a Selection Committee favourite, rated 93/100.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, de-stemmed, cold-macerated in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, native yeasts, aged 18 months in barrels (10% new wood).

Dark, brilliant red with violet highlights.

Smoky, sooty notes

Palate:

Fine and elegant with fresh, juicy aromas, this cuvée with its soft tannins releases a juice with perfectly integrated oak and a finish marked by notes of violet.

Temperature:

Decant before serving, between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Roast rib steak and bacon, pike-perch with red butter, puff pastry-crusted lamb, heart of beef fillet with a full-bodied jus and local porcini mushrooms.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028, and even longer for enthusiasts.
