Founded in 2011 by Michel Chevré, former vineyard manager for the renowned Thierry Germain, Clos de l’Écotard has quickly become one of the Loire Valley’s most respected estates.

Today, Michel and his son Thibaud craft some of the purest, most vibrant wines in the region, working with organic farming to produce terroir-driven cuvées of remarkable precision and finesse, masterfully aged in barrels or amphorae.

Made primarily from Chenin Blanc, the 2021 White Saumur Brut is a finely crafted, energetic, and elegantly subtle sparkling wine. Aged for two years on lees and undosed, it reveals itself with pure freshness, finesse, and balance. A perfect choice for an apéritif, it also pairs beautifully with cheese—a bottle sure to impress everyone at the table.

Blended from three parcels of sandy and limestone soils, the 2022 Red Saumur offers a smooth, refined expression of Cabernet Franc, with a beautiful touch of tuffeau minerality and fresh fruit aromas. This is a charming, approachable red, crafted with precision—short maceration ensures delicate tannins and a crisp, vibrant character. The estate’s signature style shines through, with barrel aging (without new oak) and jar maturation, bringing clarity, finesse, and energy to the wine. Rated 93/100 by RVF.

The 2022 White Saumur is a beautifully refined dry Chenin Blanc, perfectly balancing ripeness with a vibrant expression of tuffeau limestone.
