Wine:

Rated 94/100, the 2023 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Les Impénitents Red is an exceptional Gamay of remarkable depth, with juicy, concentrated flavors and admirable structure. The vibrant aromas are beautifully complemented by delicate smoky nuances, graphite undertones, and a pronounced minerality. Its finely crafted tannic structure underscores the wine’s great potential for aging. Produced from 109-year-old vines on just 0.8 hectares, this is a full-bodied, expressive wine that reflects the essence of its exceptional terroir. Quantities are extremely limited.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested, 0.80-hectare plot facing south-east on slopes, 106-year-old vines, deep clay soils impregnated with iron oxide in the foothills of the Py hill.
Traditional vinification using whole grapes for 95% of the crop and destemmed for the remaining 5%. Vatting for 11 days and aged for 10 months in cement vats.

Certified organic wine.

Food and wine pairing:

Traditional pâté en croûte, onglet de boeuf à l'échalote, filet de boeuf sauce marchand de vin, volaille rôtie, coq au vin, carré de veau rôti au four.
