Wine:

Remarkable in finesse and purity of style, the 2006 Sauternes Château d'Yquem once again lives up to its genius and legend. Maintaining an intact freshness, this relatively "light" vintage in sugars at 122 g/l, offers a stunning success: notes of thyme, spices, candied fruit, and roasted pineapple combine masterfully in a multidimensional, rich, and concentrated body, supported by a superb nervy tension and freshness throughout. The eternal finish is simply magical. A monumental bottle! Rated 98/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested grape by grape, with 5 successive selections. Fermentation and ageing for 3 years in new oak barrels. Final blending of Château d'Yquem thanks to rigorous selection by blind tasting.
Residual sugar: 122 g/l (sweet wine)

Color:

Intense, bright golden yellow.

Nose:

Delicate, subtle and precise, from the moment it's opened, complex aromas of apricot, peach and coconut are released, offering a most exceptional perfume.

Palate:

The 2006 vintage has a round attack, with a rich, full structure revealing a long, evolving dimension and remarkable flavors.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Raw or semi-cooked foie gras with candied figs or mango jam, hard cheeses (comté, mimolette, parmesan) or blue-veined cheeses (fourme d'Ambert or Montbrison on toast), mandarin hot soufflé, vanilla crème brûlée.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2045

Château d'Yquem is the greatest sweet wine in the world. This praise is not exaggerated; this legendary wine truly holds a unique place for its exceptional consistency, extraordinary aging potential, and extraordinary aromatic complexity. As the only Sauternes classified as a Premier Grand Cru Supérieur, it is unquestionably one of the greatest wines on the planet.
