Wine:

Ideally located at the top of the slope in a mid-hillside parcel, the 2017 red Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru presents itself confidently. With a significant proportion of whole bunch fermentation, and careful partial aging in new barrels, it preserves superb fruit with an utterly captivating character. Notes of spices, flowers, leather, and bark create a well-rounded and refined wine, fresh and creamy, without any heaviness, mesmerizing in its ethereal yet earthy balance. A Pinot Noir that seems to defy gravity!

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Meticulous sorting in the vineyard and winery. Whole grapes not crushed and vatted by gravity. No yeasting or enzyming. Cold pre-fermentation maceration (12-15°C) for 5 days. Total maceration between 15 and 20 days. One light pumping over per day until the end of cuvaison. Aged 18 months in barrels, 30% of which are new (origin of wood: Cher, Tronçais and Cîteaux). Racking of all barrels. No fining, light filtration.

Parcel of 1.4137 ha: Clos de Vougeot "Montiottes hautes", east-facing, plantings: 1946/1947, 1951/1952, 1954/1955, 1983/1984, 1989/1990, 1993/1994.
Organic farming since 1998, Ecocert certification since 1999. Bio-dynamic agriculture since 2001, without approval.
