Wine:

A benchmark of perfection with a perfect 100/100 from Parker, the 2021 Ribera del Duero Pingus Red is yet another extraordinary wine, rivalling the legendary 1996, 2016, and 2018 vintages—perhaps even surpassing them, as Peter Sisseck himself praises its unparalleled refinement. Sourced from two tiny parcels of ancient Tempranillo vines, along with a few indigenous plants, planted in 1929 in the village of La Horra, this micro-terroir is the very essence of Pingus. Only the finest lots are selected to create this iconic cuvée, further elevated by minute yields and a meticulous selection process. The wine is aged in 20-hectolitre vats and French oak barrels, eschewing new wood to preserve its purity, adding to its legendary rarity. The 2021 vintage embodies everything in abundance: profound depth, remarkable concentration, finely tuned tannins, and an exquisite youthful vibrancy. Its balance and energy are nothing short of spectacular, making it a wine that will undoubtedly go down in the history of the estate.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Old vines over 80 years old with very low yields. Vinification based on a non-interventionist approach. Pre-fermentation maceration in 2.5 hl tuns. Aged for 20 months in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels.

Color:

An intense red with purple edges.

Nose:

The aromatic complexity of this wine is remarkable, with aromas of red fruit and lightly roasted accents.

Palate:

A velvety palate through this rich, powerful and full-bodied structure, a wine of delicate texture and extreme refinement.
