Masseto - IGT Toscana - Rouge - 2019

Wine:

Since 1981, Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, elevated to the rank of "super Tuscans", has been producing great wines that are the stuff of dreams the world over, including the legendary Masseto wine, which is a cru in its own right, now vinified separately. The 2019 IGT Toscana Masseto reflects in the sound of its name the relief of its terroir: a small hill rich in clay, planted with 7 hectares of Merlot, worked exclusively by hand. Rich and sensual, this highly successful vintage displays treasures of intensity and finesse, in a particularly elegant score. Its aromas of black fruits, spices and cocoa are subtly underlined by the ageing process, giving way to ripe, silky tannins, a dense, voluptuous structure and a long, fresh finish. Rated 98/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. The grapes are sorted and destemmed by hand. Six different lots are vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in steel and wood vats, followed by a 15 to 20 day maceration at a temperature of 25 to 30°C. Then there is malolactic fermentation in 100% new oak barrels and then the batches are separated for 12 months of maturation. The wine is then blended and put back into the barrels for a year, for a total of 24 months. After bottling, the wine is aged again for 12 months.

Ruby red of beautiful intensity with purple reflections.

Nose:

Aromas of black fruits and cocoa underlined by spicy notes and fresh leather.

Serve between 16 and 18°C.
