Wine:

The 2022 Red Rosso Di Montalcino Fornacina stands out for its enchanting, very fresh pit-fruit aromas that inevitably recall the infused style of a Pinot Noir, all the more so as the aging remains sober and the syrupy cherry dominates. On the palate, the texture is rich but very elegant, with smooth tannins and a coherent whole. This is a Rosso di Montalcino that can be aged for another five to eight years. However, it can be opened now with white meats or duck. Rated 93/100 by the committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vinification in stainless steel vats. Aged for several months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Color:

Intense red with vermilion hues.

Nose:

Delicate aromas of pit fruits, a fresh, fine structure reminiscent of the infused style of a pinot noir, all with restrained breeding and dominant cherry notes.

Palate:

Elegant, slightly extracted palate with delicate tannins on a coherent, well-balanced whole.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled duck breast with spices, chicken and bell pepper skewer on the barbecue, lamb chop with rosemary.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034

Sought after by Brunello enthusiasts worldwide, La Fornacina remains a hidden gem, staying under the radar despite its success due to the small size of its vineyard—just 5 hectares cultivated organically—and the deliberate discretion of its owners.

The Biliorsi family has thus propelled it into the prestigious circle of great Tuscan houses since 1980. Since then, it has been a proud representative of Brunello, considered one of its most authentic ambassadors, wonderfully exemplifying grand Italian classicism.
