Wine:

On this flinty terroir, the 2018 white Sancerre En Chailloux delivers a score of magical purity. It is a great Loire Valley white wine, full and chiseled, with that very thirst-quenching tension proper to flint and a vibrant, saline finish. This great vintage confirms its place on the podium of the world's greatest white wines and everyone will be happy to gauge the level reached here. Barely a thousand bottles have been produced, almost all of them reserved for sale at the estate... Don't hesitate too long!

Vinification:

Hand harvested, aged for 12 months in oak barrels and again for 10 months in mass before bottling.

Color:

Bright light yellow.

Nose:

Very pure, intense mineral notes on a background of fresh citrus fruits. The maturation is sober, impressive, all in subtlety. 2017
Very pure, aromas of rubbed flint punctuated by notes of pear and a hint of smoked tea brought by a noble maturation.

Palate:

The palate confirms the brilliance and purity of this Sauvignon whose precision and finesse we appreciate. This balance achieved confirms us in the idea that this rare wine, made since 2013 joins qualitatively the range of the estate Dagueneau. 2017
It is a full style thanks to the solar imprint of 2015 while aging its Loire character. This juice vibrates with a beautiful minerality. 2015

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Aperitif, langoustines or gambas in tempura, roasted turbot in beurre blanc, sweetbreads in curry sauce, goat cheese such as the famous Crottin de Chavignol.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2031

An icon of the Loire Valley and Jurançon, Domaine Didier Dagueneau is an absolute reference for any wine lover. Exceptional flavors of fruit, freshness, and vertiginous persistence: the wines are simply unforgettable. Almost inaccessible to private individuals, reserved for the finest tables, the wines are sold privately, and only a few lucky people can get close to them.

The article in our magazine described this success in detail: the long maturation on lees remains the basis of an absolute quest for the crystalline expression of the grape variety, enhanced by a meticulous maturation in wood, in 320-liter (cigars) or 600-liter (tons) barrels. This is a complete masterpiece, and Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, who has been at the helm for ten years, tactfully perpetuates the spirit of craftsmanship and excellence initiated by his father.

It is therefore a pleasure to offer here some of the most beautiful expressions of his terroirs of Sancerre and Jurançon (Jardins de Babylone), certainly among the most fascinating in the world!
