Wine:

Ready for long aging, the 2018 red Bandol Château Pradeaux displays ripe substance, scents of tapenade and rosemary, and a fresh, spicy character. In this rainy vintage, it has managed its power well and reveals itself with more tannic finesse than in sunny years. A unique style to be refined over the years, with a fine piece of meat. Rated 95/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, lightly crushed, fermented in thermo-regulated cement vats, aged for 48 months in old oak tuns from 40 to 80 years.

Color:

Intense red, brilliant with some garnet reflections.

Nose:

Ripe highlighted by spicy notes, tapenade, mourvedre infusion and a touch of rosemary.

Palate:

This wine is powerful, with very present tannins that enclose a fresh, shapely and large palate. A wine suitable for aging.

Temperature:

Decant before serving between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Venison stew, duck with spices, lamb with rosemary.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2033

A venerable Bandol institution, now rated 3 stars in the RVF Guide - only 4 estates have reached this level - Château Pradeaux has been owned by the Portalis family since 1752.

For three centuries, it has been producing powerful, well-structured red wines which, over time, take on the allure of great Bordeaux. The density, breed and depth of recent vintages provide incomparable emotion.

Far from any flattering drift, Pradeaux remains as it has always been: a very classic red, seeking to blossom over time, reinforcing its power and uniqueness through whole grapes vinification (extremely rare in Bandol) and very long ageing (up to 48 months) in old foudres aged from 40 to 80 years!
