Wine:

Benefiting from a cool vintage that suits it perfectly, the 2021 red Gigondas releases beautiful southern nuances of maquis, blackberries, spices, and bay leaves, with pleasant hints of undergrowth and a touch of cocoa. The structure displays its power gracefully, in a slender profile without overpowering, and ideal maturity. A very fine wine, one of moderation, to be enjoyed leisurely over the next 5 years.

Intense, brilliant ruby red.

Intense aromas of red and black fruits with a touch of wild maquis, delicate notes of spices, laurel and tobacco box.

A beautiful balance between this fruity structure and delicate tannins, a long, graceful power offering a long and pleasant persistence.

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Mastering grenache in its most intimate subtleties, Dominique Ay is a prominent figure in Gigondas, now seamlessly succeeded by his children Anne-Sophie and Christophe. Their Domaine Raspail-Ay has reached new heights, crafting wines of rare complexity and finesse, among the best of the appellation.

The high-altitude terroir—19 ha of contiguous land with vines averaging 60 years old—helps maintain a vital freshness, while lengthy aging in large containers, first in oak foudres then in concrete vats, refines the mature, vigorous materials, always brimming with elegant fruit, destined for prolonged aging.
