Wine:

A favorite of the Selection Committee, rated 95/100 and praised by the RVF Guide, the 2020 Red Chinon Clos du Chêne Vert Monopole is a standout from the Loire Valley, sourced from 2 hectares nestled within the town of Chinon. The nose offers remarkable purity, showcasing the best of Cabernet Franc: ripe, fresh, subtly oaked, with notes of fine graphite and macerated black fruits, all delivering an elegant floral intensity. The palate is smooth and vibrant with freshness, with well-integrated tannins that enhance rather than overshadow the wine's depth and potential. The finish is persistently saline. This wine, born from an exceptional terroir, already displays perfect balance. Allow it to develop further over the next 5 to 10 years, or even longer.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation in vats. Malolactic fermentation and ageing for 16 months in oak barrels, then 10 months in vats.

Certified organic wine.

Color:

Intense red with carmine highlights.

Nose:

Great purity expressing Cabernet Franc at its best: ripe, fresh, subtly oaky, notes of delicate graphite and macerated black fruit mingled with an elegant floral score.

Palate:

Smooth and vibrant with freshness, this cuvée already delivers perfect balance. The present yet well-integrated tannins do not overshadow the depth and potential of this wine, born from a great terroir, which extends to a persistent saline finish.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Côte de boeuf à la plancha, oven-roasted guinea fowl, rabbit with oven mustard, pigeon en cocotte, Saint-Nectaire fermier affiné.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034, and even longer for enthusiasts.

A historic estate in the Loire Valley, with 2 stars in the RVF Guide, Domaine Charles Joguet has long been associated with its founder's legacy.

Taken over in 6 by the Genet family, who have focused on limestone terroirs, the estate now shines at the pinnacle of the Chinon appellation. The high level of excellence combined with organic farming produces exceptional Cabernet wines, vibrant with freshness, from north-east facing terroirs.

Few estates in the Loire Valley offer such essential cuvées, which today achieve a level of refinement and depth that ranks them among the greatest red wines of the region.
