Wine:
With 20% Mourvèdre in the blend, the 2021 Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes boldly asserts its southern character. The Mourvèdre adds a distinct touch of garrigue and spices, enhancing the wine’s complexity. While still tightly wound, its tannins coat the palate with finesse, avoiding any harshness. This is a wine built for long aging, offering remarkable balance and charm. Rated 95/100 by RVF.Vinification:
Hand harvested and sorted on the vine. Vines planted 40% in 1920, 40% in 1965, 10% in 1976 and 10% in 1993 on 4 plots with different terroirs: rolled pebbles, sand, red clay covered with rolled pebbles and sandy-limestone. 80% de-stemming, 28-day maceration with daily manual punching of the cap. Aged 12 months, 3/4 in foudres and 1/4 in demi-muids (600 liters).
